Managed Grazing of Solar Farms

LEMP SERVICES LTD are actively introducing Sheep onto many solar farms to reduce the amount of grounds maintenance mowing that is currently been carried out across a large percentage of solar farms in the UK.

We have looked at the impact of transporting tractors and grass cutting machinery across the UK, doing thousands of miles per year, and found it to be very interesting and concerning. We decided that the best way to reduce this impact would be to work with local shepherds and to start to use sheep to do the work usually carried out by machines. Not only is there a huge cost saving for our clients but the sheep maintain the grassland far better.

We offer a service that utilises our network of local shepherds who introduce their flocks onto the solar farms. We carry out an initial site survey to ensure the site is suitable, we then discuss with the shepherd the number of sheep required. Once the sheep have been introduced, we then control access for the shepherd and provide monthly feedback including photographs of the site to our Clients.
